Do You Drink Water?
We all have times when we know we haven’t had enough water. Visions of a nice tall glass of cool H2O sparkling in the light with beads of condensation running down the side sound so appealing. But do you really know when your body is telling you to take a drink? Check out these signals:
These are just some of the ways your body is trying to talk to you.
Even if we are not doing something that requires sweating, our bodies are still working hard and constantly perspiring. It just evaporates as quickly as it comes to the surface of our skin.
Why is Water Important?
Basically water is the lubricant that keeps our body running smooth. Our bodies are made so cool to be able to….well I like to equate it to something of a triage unit. Our bodies are continually assessing our intake of nutrients and liquids and dispersing them where they are needed most. With that in mind, our vital organs are going to get first dibs on any water rations while things like sensitive dry skin is going to get what is left over.
How Much Should You Drink?
That question has definitely seen an array of opinions. Some say a glass every hour while others say 8-8oz glasses a day is perfect. The latest buzz is to take your weight, divide it in half and that number is now the amount you should drink in ounces.
The Bottom Line
Listen to the signals of your body. Do you feel like your sinuses are sticky but you don’t have a cold? Has it been more than 4 hours since you have needed to go pee? When you do go, can you smell the aroma of the coffee you had earlier in the day or even the garlic from last night’s dinner?
Your body works hard 24 hours a day so that you can do all the things you do. Give it some love back with a nice refreshing drink of water.
Remember, you are a treasure!
